Cloud Mobile
Inspired by the gray, cold, rainy and long winters in the Pacific Northwest, the cloud mobile seeks to find a little joy amongst the monotony of the overcast season.
Leaf Mobile
Mobile creation requires the art of balance, much like nature itself. Various types of wood and pyrography patterns were used to create an array of leaf imagery and spectrum of natural color.
Rib Cage
The rib cage is made up of eleven different steam bent forms for the ribs and a bent lamination for the spine. Walnut butterfly joinery connects the two steam bent pieces that make up each rib. The lungs are shop made plywood, shaped with a piecing technique on the scroll saw. This sculptural piece was an exploration of curves and volume.
